The stitching around here has mostly been noise, you know the background stitching that fills in, doesn’t really stand out, but adds to the total picture.  Not terribly exciting on it’s own, so no pics.  Hoping to get to more interesting stitching in the next day or so if I get caught up on things around the house.  Company is coming in a couple of weeks, Hi Eve, so have to get everything ship shape.

In the “that’s interesting” category, I had my eye exam yesterday and told the Dr. that my eyes kept watering all of the time.  Turns out I have a bad case of dry eye syndrome, who would of thought that watering eyes meant they were dry.

I’ll leave you with an interesting quiz I came across that is, in my case, surprisingly accurate.

NBPS – The Idealist

Nature, Background, Big Picture, and Shape

You perceive the world with particular attention to nature. You focus on the hidden treasures of life (the background) and how that fits into the larger picture. You are also particularly drawn towards the shapes around you. Because of the value you place on nature, you tend to find comfort in more subdued settings and find energy in solitude. You like to ponder ideas and imagine the many possibilities of your life without worrying about the details or specifics. You are in tune with all that is around you and understand your life as part of a larger whole. You prefer a structured environment within which to live and you like things to be predictable.

Haven’t done a quiz in a while and found this one on another blog.  For the most part this describes me fairly well.  Not sure I like the idea that if people don’t “get” me, that they would think I’m incompetent.

You Are An ISFP
The Artist

You are a gifted artist or musician (though your talents may be dormant right now).
You enjoy spending your free time in nature, and you are good with animals and children.
Simply put, you enjoy beauty in all its forms and live for the simple pleasures in life.
Gentle, sensitive, and compassionate – you are good at recognizing people’s unspoken needs.

In love, you are quiet and sweet yet very passionate. You love easily.
You have an underlying love for all living things, and it’s easy for you to accept someone into your heart.

At work, you do best in an unconventional position. You express yourself well and can work with almost anyone.
You would make a good veterinarian, pediatrician, or composer.

How you see yourself: Sympathetic, kind, and communicative

When other people don’t get you, they see you as: Incompetent, insecure, and overly sensitive

On the creative side:

  • I’ve been knitting on a “Why?” project using a stash yarn bought on sale a few years ago.  I’ll post more about it later, when I’m further along.
  • Haven’t done much in the quilting area.  Mostly just trying to decide which of the many UFO’s I want to work on at retreat in a couple of weeks.  Skrappies decided that instead of starting on something new, that we would bring unfinished projects to work on.

The garden is planted, at least as much as can be planted until the onions are harvested.  We have 3 Roma tomatoes, 2 Bell Pepper’s, 2 Eggplant’s, 2 Jalapeno’s and an Heirloom Yellow Pear Tomato.  From seed I have, Summerlong Basil,  Cantaloupe and some (for front flowerbed) Red Hot Pokers that will be ready to set out soon. Surprisingly all of my herbs survived the winter, even the Italian Parsley and Salad Burnet.  I pulled the Salad Burnet up because it was a monster and crowding out everything else.  All of the Burnet I’ve had before went to seed at the end of the season and died.  I don’t think this one got the memo.

My Dad is in the hospital and if the test they are running today comes back negative he will be released.  So we are waiting for a call so Bill can go to take him home.

Edit:  I discovered that Salad Burnet can overwinter in certain climates and can be a perennial.  Strange that I’ve never had this occur before, since when I’ve grown it before, we were living in a slightly warmer climate south of here.

Finished the Calorimetry, modified with cables.  I like the way it turned out.

Cabled Calorimetry

The button doesn’t show up well in the picture, but it is a vintage, antiqued silver, metal button with cables around the outside edge.

Cabled Calorimetry

Have been doing a little knitting on a couple of pairs of socks, trying to finish them up.  The weather isn’t cooperating, so no yardwork has been done.  More cold yucky weather due in the next couple of days.

I was talking to Eve yesterday about being right or left brain dominant.  Left brain dominant individuals are more orderly, literal, articulate, and to the point. They are good at understanding directions and anything that is explicit and logical. They can have trouble comprehending emotions and abstract concepts, they can feel lost when things are not clear, doubting anything that is not stated and proven.

Right brain dominant individuals are more visual and intuitive. They are better at summarizing multiple points, picking up on what’s not said, visualizing things, and making things up. They can lack attention to detail, directness, organization, and the ability to explain their ideas verbally, leaving them unable to communicate effectively.

Then I came across this quiz, my test results were no surprise.  “Overall you appear to have fairly Equal Hemispheres”

Brain Lateralization Test Results
Right Brain (46%) The right hemisphere is the visual, figurative, artistic, and intuitive side of the brain.
Left Brain (52%) The left hemisphere is the logical, articulate, assertive, and practical side of the brain

I couldn’t resist.

I saw this quiz on another blog and I couldn’t resist.  Haven’t had a quiz here in a while, so here goes.

Your Brain’s Pattern
You have a tempered, reasonable way of thinking.
You tend to take every new idea in, and meld it with your world view.
For you, everything is always changing. Each moment is different.
Your thinking process tends to be very natural – with no beginnings or endings.

Last week I started the next step down of my prednisone weaning.  So far it’s not too bad.  I alternate 7mg and 2½mg every other day.  On the low dose days I get a little more tired than usual and a little achey.  Doc says the next step down will probably be the worst.  Thankfully it won’t be until after Christmas.

I have been working on some knitting related projects, but haven’t taken pics yet.  Yesterday I went for my yearly mammogram, afterwards I decided I deserved some new yarn.  Tomorrow I hope to have pics of yarn and knitting projects.

Today really feels like fall.  It’s cool enough outside, that I’ve opened all the windows.
Ahhhh!  Fresh air.

Puppy Sitting

Steven & Jessica went to Lawton this weekend for his high school reunion.  On their way through town they dropped Miss Josie off to spend some time with me.  We are spending a lot of time outside so that she can protect the backyard from any birds that may want to invade.  She also saved us from the guardian of the herb garden.

I found this quiz on another blog.  Haven’t posted a quiz in a while, so here goes, “What finger are you?”

You Are a Ring Finger
You are romantic, expressive, and hopeful. You see the best in everything.
You are very artistic, and you see the world as your canvas. You are also drawn to the written word.
Inventive and unique, you are often away in your own inner world.

You get along well with: The Pinky

Stay away from: The Index Finger

Here is the dishcloth after 3 days of the KAL.  Does anyone want to guess what the pattern is?

I unpacked a few more boxes yesterday and that didn’t even make a dent in how many are left.  Still haven’t come across the jalapenos I canned over a year ago.  They ought to really be Hot by now.  The majority of the boxes are for the sewing room.  When my sewing table is delivered and Bill puts up my shelves, then I can work on unpacking the rest.

Just for fun here is a quiz.  I already knew I was autumn.  It’s always been my favorite season.

What Season Are You?

You Belong in Fall
Intelligent, introspective, and quite expressive at times…
You appreciate the changes in color, climate, and mood that fall brings
Whether you’re carving wacky pumpkins or taking long drives, autumn is a favorite time of year for you
