Archive for March, 2012

Time really flies, my last post was around the first of February. Don’t really have a good reason, it’s part laziness and part feeling very Leonardo DaVinci Vincent Van Gogh and tempted to whack off my ear (thanks for correction Charlotte, foggy brain strikes again). Hopefully the Van Gogh thing will be resolved next week.

My last post was for week 5 of the UIU Challenge and this is week 13, so there is a lot of catching up to do.  Won’t be able to show week by week, because I can’t remember which week I did what.  Here we go:

I had a lot of loose cut-outs of hearts laying around so used them to make a Valentine tag.

I made a gear stamp from Fun Foam and got carried away using it on this journal spread.  Couldn’t think of anything else to do so I pasted on a picture of a steampunk man and added the quote. 🙂

Most of March has been taken up with the first round of the Secret Sister Box Swap.  The idea was conceived on LaurelfromNJ’s stream one day and has turned out to be a lot of fun.  Both making and filling the boxes, but also anticipating the arrival, and video streams of everyone opening their boxes.  The guidelines for the swap were that the box dimensions be 7 1/2 x 4 or something close to that size and be filled with handmade items or items from our stash.  I received a totally awesome box filled with all kinds of treasures from my secret sister ArteDar.  Thought I had taken pics of it all, but I guess that is what I get for thinking.  So I will get pics taken and put them on next blog post.

The secret sister I was to send to was Paula/Journalartista, and the only things I really knew about her were that she liked Paris and circles/swirls.  Here is the box that I made and decorated for Paula

To fill the box I made two postcards.  The postcard on the left was made using Seeking4art’s melted crayon technique.  The other postcard is made with a paper napkin, lace and trims.

On one of LaurelfromNJ’s Ustream recordings she made a folded ATC folder that I really liked, so I made a folder and filled it with 4 ATC’s that I made.

I made 3 different origami boxes before I got two pieces that fit together to make a box. 🙂

Inside the box was an altered domino, using alcohol ink, copper wire, and Glossy Accents.

Also included in the box was an art doll made with a tag.

I covered a mini composition book with paper from the Timeless Type collection.

And from my stash I included a set of notepads with a Parisienne theme.

About 10 yrs ago I made a couple of beaded goddess/spirit dolls and one day Mitzi and Dar inspired me to make another one.  The first two green dolls are the older ones and the golden one is the latest one I made.

I’ve made a couple of cards but forgot to take pics.  I always forget to take pictures of cards for some reason.  That pretty much catches everyone up with what has been going on around here.  Maybe it won’t be as long until my next post.

Thanks for stopping by.
