First off I want to thank everyone that has commented or sent a message about my blog.  It’s nice to know that someone out there is actually reading what I ramble on about.

I stretched the preparation out over 3 days and ended yesterday with rollling and steaming 3½ dozen tamales.  A few hours after dividing the tamales into packages of 6 and loading the freezer, I realized that I didn’t document the momentous occasion by taking a picture.  So just picture in your mind, beautiful, perfectly rolled tamales, NOT.

OK, I don’t know what my problem is but it seems that I can’t follow easy to understand instructions.  The knitting project has been frogged again.  Luckily this time it was just a few rows.  I still can’t figure out how I ended up with 2 buttonholes on one side and 1 buttonhole on the other side.  It would certainly make it difficult to button up the front.

We’ve pretty much finished all of the Christmas shopping, now comes the part I’m not particularly fond of.  Wrapping.  I did manage to wrap a few presents the other night while watching Kung Fu Panda.  Of course I cheated, and two of them were stuffed in gift bags with tissue paper.  Now that’s my kind of wrapping.  Someone did try to help me with the decorating.

And he also does a great impersonation of a Christmas present.

Actually this pose is quite unusual, because he generally runs by and swats the doll’s face or bites her foot.

This time of year is not only for the holidays.  It’s also time to make tamales.  So on this cold, gloomy, drizzly day I have a pork roast slow cooking with onions and garlic.  Depending on my energy levels it will take me another day or so to complete the tamale making process.  It’s easier and goes a lot faster if you have extra hands to help in the preparation.

I’ve been knitting on the project mentioned in a previous post.  Have had to frog it back a couple of more times due to my brain not comprehending the, not so difficult, instructions.  A brain on steroids is a terrible thing, I see the lung doc on Monday and I’m hoping that he will agree to a lower dosage.

As much as I wish it wasn’t so, I don’t think I will be getting back to work on “A Crazy World” until after Christmas and possibly not until the first of the new year.

!@%$#%@

I’ve been knitting on a project with a marginal chance of finishing by Christmas.  This morning I looked at said project in horror and realized that I read the instructions wrong, so now I will be unraveling over a week’s worth of stitches and starting over.

I’ve been working on the jungle house for “A Crazy World” and was having trouble finding a suitable thread/stitch that I liked for the roof.  I had some loosely twisted jute but it fell apart as I tried to stitch it down.  Then I thought I remembered seeing some embroidery raffia, but couldn’t remember where.  So while I was out using my 40% off coupons at the local hobby/craft stores I purchased a small pack of raffia thinking I would try it.  So far I like the results, the hut’s not finished but here is a pic of my progress.  Even though the strips of raffia aren’t very wide, I still split each piece in half.

The past few weeks I had been feeling kind of down and had little energy, so I decided I just needed to get out and be with friends.  Thursday I drove down to Lawton for the Skrappy Ladies meeting and had a really good time.  Came home in a better mood and frame of mind.  Sharron had finished putting together everyone’s fabrics and hearts into a warm wishes quilt for Marcy who is still recuperating from a bad fall.  The picture isn’t the best because of the lighting but it is a pretty little lap quilt.

Toby has settled in and is running the household.  Bill has stolen his affection though, all I’m good for is feeding, and keeping the litter box clean.  Oh, and the occasional petting and belly scratching.  Toby’s favorite pass times are attacking the springy doorstops, playing fishing with Bill (a piece of string tied to a bamboo stick), racing up and down the hallway and bird watching.

Toby was sitting perfectly posed for a picture, then just as I snapped the pic he decided to be silly.
